Westie Rescue Events
Virginia Scottish Games - Dog Events
Sunday, July 24, 2005 -- Alexandria, Virginia
LET'S GET STARTED! - Volunteers man the rescue tent while dogs and owners line up for the races!
PICTURES FIRST -- We started our day with group photos of foster Casper, Coda, and Dais, along with Aunt Karen (left) and Miss Kimmie (right).
READY, SET, GO! -- Next came the terrier races where Dais (left photo) and Coda (right photo) each won their first heat, earning blue ribbons!
CASPER NEEDS A HOME -- All day long we tried to introduce Casper to prospective families, since at the time he was in need of a new home.  In spite of being in limbo, Casper performed perfectly in a discipline challenge called Distraction Dash, earning his own blue ribbon!  He successfully ignored a path of treats and toys, and followed the "come" command perfectly by arriving at the finish line, where he was being called by his foster mom.  Casper never flinched and showed a lot of discipline, earning a round of applause!
RIBBONS GALORE -- At the end of the day, all three dogs -- Dais, Coda, and foster Casper, had earned a number of ribbons for their efforts in the games.
THE SCOTTISH ARE EVERYWHERE -- Participants in Scottish attire, along with their Scottish breed dogs, prepared (left and right) to march in a procession around the stadium bowl, where clans had assembled to watch the games.
